Thai boxing is one of the few routes of social promotion. It is also a way children can make money, especially if they don't have the opportunity for education.The young Thai boys who compete fight for prize money and recognition in the rural areas of Thailand. The match begins with the performance of a special pre-fight dance known as the "Ram Muay". During the dance, the young fighters wear a headband given by their trainer, which is thought of as a sacred talisman representing their dedication to the art. Each boxer kneels and bows three times, as a show of respect to his teacher, and then the fight begins.
